These terms are the agreement between you and BenCode Studio (“we”, “us”) for using the Baobab app. By downloading or playing Baobab, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
1. Your licence to use Baobab
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use Baobab for your own, non-commercial entertainment and learning. You may not copy, resell, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the app’s question bank or source code except where the law expressly allows it.
2. Playing as a guest
Baobab creates an anonymous account for you automatically so your progress can be saved and synced. You’re responsible for the device you play on. Because guest accounts aren’t protected by a password, keep your device secure — anyone using it can access your game.
3. Virtual items & currency
Baobab includes virtual items — cowries, hints and freezes. These:
- have no monetary value, are not real currency, and cannot be exchanged for cash;
- are licensed to you for use within the game only, and are non-transferable outside it;
- are earned through play or optional rewarded advertising.
We aim to keep the game fair. Region unlocks are earned by playing. We may adjust the balance and availability of virtual items over time to keep the game healthy. Unused virtual items are forfeited if your account is closed or the service ends, except where the law requires otherwise.
4. Free access
The current version does not sell digital items. Optional advertising supports development and never directly unlocks regions.
5. Educational content
Baobab’s questions and stories are researched and cited in good faith, and we work to keep them accurate and respectful (see our sources & fact-checking page). Even so, content is provided “as is” for general learning, may be simplified, and may contain errors or become out of date. It isn’t professional, academic or official advice. If you spot a mistake, please tell us — we fix them.
6. Acceptable use
Please don’t: cheat, exploit bugs, or use automated tools to manipulate scores, streaks or the economy; use a display name to harass, impersonate, advertise, disclose personal information or post offensive material; interfere with or attempt to breach the app’s security; or use Baobab in any unlawful way. Players can report or block another player from the Live lobby and results. We review reports and may filter names, separate players, restrict social play, or suspend access that breaks these rules.
7. Intellectual property
The Baobab name, logo, design, code, and original text are owned by BenCode Studio and protected by intellectual-property laws. Facts themselves are free to all; our particular expression of them, and the app around them, are not. Third-party names or marks belong to their owners.
8. Disclaimers
Baobab is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t promise the app will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content will be complete or accurate.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, BenCode Studio will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or loss of data or progress, arising from your use of Baobab. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.
10. Changes & availability
We’re actively developing Baobab and may add, change or remove features, and may update these terms. If we make material changes we’ll revise the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use Baobab after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Ending the agreement
You can stop using Baobab and delete the app at any time, and you can ask us to delete your data (see Data & account deletion). We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws applicable at BenCode Studio’s place of business, without affecting mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
